Meet Angela - Trauma & Childhood Emotional Neglect Therapist in Nashville
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, high-functioning adults who appear capable on the outside while quietly carrying anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship struggles, or the lasting effects of childhood emotional neglect or childhood trauma. They are often the people others depend on, the ones who hold everything together while privately struggling with people-pleasing, perfectionism, low self-esteem, difficulty identifying their emotions, or a persistent sense of disconnection from themselves.
You may have spent years pushing through high-functioning anxiety, taking care of everyone else's needs, or wondering why insight alone hasn't created lasting change. Therapy offers a space to slow down, better understand yourself, and begin changing the patterns that no longer serve you. Rather than simply managing symptoms, my goal is to help you reconnect with your emotions, strengthen your relationship with yourself, and build a life that feels more authentic, grounded, and fulfilling.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I integrate EMDR, Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM), attachment-focused therapy, parts work, and somatic approaches to help clients process unresolved experiences and create lasting change. I specialize in working with trauma, childhood emotional neglect, complex PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, relationship challenges, depression, and the long-term effects of difficult family experiences.
Whether you're navigating the effects of childhood trauma, feeling stuck in recurring relationship patterns, or simply feel like you've lost touch with yourself, therapy can help you better understand your story, develop greater self-trust, and move toward a life that feels more connected and meaningful.
If you're looking for a therapist in Nashville or virtual therapy anywhere in Tennessee, I'd be honored to help you determine whether we're a good fit. Email me to reach out!
Questions for Angela
-
Being in the present moment, non-judgmentally, both internally aware of self and externally aware of one's environment.
-
I initially turned to mindfulness to help me cope with very difficult life transitions that caused me a lot of emotional pain. A friend introduced me to the author Eckhart Tolle and from there I began to practice mindfulness through nature walks and short guided meditations I found on YouTube. The practice helped me ease the intensity of the emotions I was feeling. My practice has continued to grow from there, I have found other teachers to follow and I still incorporate it in my personal and professional life to help me cope and take care of myself!
-
I utilize mindfulness and lead mindfulness practices with my clients to help them attune to their own internal experiences, cope with intense and difficult emotions, and build self-care techniques.
